Deep pothole renders a car “disabled”
August 17
According to police, a car was rendered “disabled” when it struck a very deep pothole on Frankfort Avenue. The hole is located at 2800 N. Frankford Ave.
The intersection has been blocked off until further notice and it is not clear how long it will take to repair the hole. The passengers of the wrecked car were taken to the hospital and suffered no major injuries, but someone should be held accountable for the damage to their vehicle and the medical bills they must pay. Ambulance rides are never free, and these innocent people should be compensated for their property loss and medical bills.
Two times in one weekend, bicycle riders were struck and killed on the same road, within 4 miles of each other. Both incidences occurred on East Britton Road in Eastern Oklahoma City.
There is a large cycling community in the area and they are understandably shaken by these tragedies. They have lost friends, and their friends’ families have lost a loved one. Innocent people are injured every day due to the negligence of others and it just isn’t fair.
By law, motor vehicle drivers are required to give bicycle riders at least three feet when passing. They obviously did not honor this law and should be held accountable for their negligence in a court of law.
